Angel Luis Santiago Rodriguez, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, in Winter Garden at age 85. He spent his final days surrounded by his loving family.

Angel was born November 19, 1940, to Felipe Santiago and Julia Rodriguez in the town of Yabucoa in Puerto Rico. From humble beginnings, Angel built a life well-lived and a large and loving family.

Raised mostly by his grandmother alongside his brother and sister, he left Puerto Rico around age 20 and moved to the Chicago area, where he originally worked at a hotel in the city. Later, he would find work in northwest Indiana's steel mills, where he would work for decades before retiring.

Angel met and fell in love with Saturnina Guzman shortly after arriving from Puerto Rico and the two were married in 1963. They had four children whom they raised in northwest Indiana: Theresa Crespo, Angelo Santiago, Zoraida Ryzewski and Mildred Virus. From their four children came 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to being a devoted husband and father, Angel enjoyed spending time with and caring for his grandchildren. A lifelong fan of boxing, Angel was also an avid gardener, particularly once he and Saturnina moved to Florida in 1995. His backyard garden was home to many plants and where he would grow his own fruits and vegetables including bananas, tomatoes and cilantro, among others.

Angel gave his life to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in his later years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Saturnina, and eldest child, Theresa. He is survived by three of his children, Angelo, Zoraida and Mildred; as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held June 26 at 1 p.m. Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home at 1148 E. Plant St. C in Winter Garden. Interment will follow at Orlando Memorial Gardens at 5264 Ingram Road.
