Carol Marlatt

December 15, 1959 — July 8, 2025

Ms. Carol Marlatt, 65, passed away on July 8, 2025 in Ocoee, Florida after a six-month battle with cancer.

Carol Marlatt was born on December 15, 1959 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to James and Juanita Marlatt. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1978.

Carol was an award-winning photographer in school and started her career at Kodak. Over the course of her life she went on to work for several major companies including GE, Deluxe, and others.

Carol was not married and did not have children. However, she developed a rich network of friends and extended family that she loved with all her heart.

Carol was known for her love of the outdoors, photography, and motorcycles. She explored, hiked, fished, and photographed huge portions of the country, from the Florida Keys to the mountains to the desert.

Carol is survived by her sister, Kathy Oakes, her nephew, James and Autumn Gordon, nephew Chris and Natalie Gordon, and great-niece Claire.

Carol is preceded in death by her father James Marlatt and mother Juanita Marlatt.

Carol led a private life and did not want to incur travel costs for her family and friends. She always thought of others, and joked that the summer sun would make a funeral unbearable for all involved. As such, Carol asked that no formal funeral service be held. Instead, she asked that her ashes be spread at Orlando Wetlands Park on her birthday, December 15th.

Carol was very passionate about the plight of the black bear and loss of natural habitats in our country. Memorial donations can be made in Carol's name to Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive, Speak Up for Wildlife, or other wildlife causes.
