Darrell Turner, age 58 of Ocoee, Florida went home to be with his Lord on December 6, 2013. He was born in Winter Garden, Florida on March 30, 1955. A longtime Ocoee resident, Darrell played in Ocoee Little League. He continued his love of sports at Ocoee High School where he was quarterback for the football team and played baseball and helped his team win the Florida State Baseball Championship in 1973. He was also honored as Athlete of the Year at Ocoee High School in 1973. He was then drafted by the Chicago Cubs and played baseball with the team for 8 years. Darrell also loved to play golf, fish and spending time with his family and friends. Darrell is survived by his parents: Merylon Turner and Leroy Shirley Turner his brothers, Michael Lora Turner and Charles Turner his sister, Mary David Edwards and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Darrells life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Starke Lake Baptist Church, Ocoee at 11 AM with Pastor Jeff Pritchard and Pastor David Pruitt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to the American Diabetic Foundation in memory of Darrell.
