Dionne Lee McKelvin Jr

Born in Pittsburgh PA, raised in Central Florida. Sgt. Dionne L. McKelvin, Jr. was very competitive in all things. He ran track in high school while maintaining high honor grades. He strived to be a positive influence on his brother and sister. He made every intention to work hard at his young age so later he could live life to the fullest.

Sgt. Dionne L. McKelvin, Jr. joined the Maryland Army National Guard in 2024 after serving seven years on active-duty. He was an air traffic controller assigned to the F. Company, 1st Battalion, 111th General Support Aviation Battalion, at Aberdeen Proving Ground – South in Edgewood, Maryland, where he served as a traditional Guard member until his tragic passing in an off-duty motorcycle accident on Memorial Day. He was awarded Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and numerous other decorations throughout his military service while also being deployed three times to Kuwait and once to Afghanistan.

He is survived by his mother, Latrice Brown-Del Toro, his father, Victor Del Toro, God mother Gilda Hawkins, Grandfather Gene Brown Sr., Brother Dominique McKelvin and his Sister Zahrea Del Toro. He is also survived by his God given family; Pedro Morales, Remi Valentin, Darbin Cordero, and Alex Godet.

He was predeceased by his Grandmother, Joan Brown in 2021.
