Jong C. Kim peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.
Born in South Korea, Jong was raised by his mother, Ok Hee Kim. He later moved to the United States in the early 1980s in pursuit of a better life. Jong served in the Indiana Army National Guard and was honorably discharged on November 12, 1987, as a member of HHB 38th Infantry Division Artillery. He remained deeply proud of his military service throughout his life.
Following his military service, Jong worked as a civilian for the U.S. Department of Defense at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis until his retirement in the early 2000s.
Jong was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kwi (Chong) Kim; his daughter, Lisa (Kim) Brennaman; his son-in-law, Jason Brennaman; and his grandchildren, Olivia Kim Brennaman and Nevan Connor Brennaman.
In later years, Jong and his family made their home in Apopka, Florida. He enjoyed fishing, tending to his plants, attending church, and spending time with his family.
