Kathleen Joiner Bean, age 99, passed away on August 2, 2022. Born in Abbeville, Georgia, she also lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, but came to Winter Garden, Florida as a child in 1936.
Kathleen married William Earl (Bud) Bean in 1941 and he was the love of her life. They were married for 52 years until Bud preceded her in death in 1994.
She and her husband were founding members of Calvary Baptist Church in Winter Garden, Florida and were members there for more than 70 years. After many years of working for the telephone company as an operator, Mrs. Bean retired from Sprint in 1985. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
After retirement, she found a passion for volunteering and found her new home at the West Orange Christian Service Center in Ocoee, Florida. Her volunteer work there lasted almost three decades.
She is survived by sons Jimmy (Julie) Bean and Bill Bean; her brother Bobby Joiner (Yvonne) who was also like a son to her; Three granddaughters, Kim, Kelly (Terry), and Kristen (Ian); Eight great grandchildren, Amber (Bo), Austin (Kaley), Jacob, Hannah, Taylor, Connor, Carson and Emerson; Five great-great grandchildren, Kinlee, Palmer, Harlyn, Blake and Aiden. She is also survived by her nieces Connie Graham and Becki Joiner Glaze (Randy) and her nephews, Michael Johnson (Deborah Ann) and Tony Joiner (Theresa) as well as many more great nieces and nephews.
