Kathleen Hughes

Kathleen Elinor Hughes, 78, of Orlando, Florida passed away at home on Sunday April 25, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.  Kathleen was born in Morris, Illinois on December 1, 1942 to parents Harry and Bernice Male Lund. She lived in Gardner, Illinois and then Orlando, Florida. She was a 1960 graduate of Gardner South Wilmington High School.

Kathleen was a retired Teacher’s Aide, having spent many years working for schools in Orange and Seminole County, Florida.  She enjoyed Ocean Cruising, the Beach, Feeding the Homeless and was quick to help anyone in need.

Her most important pastime was her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul and her sister, Myra Anderson.

Kathleen is survived by her children Heidi Hughes, Hunter Hughes and Harrison Hughes; grandchildren Cayla Hughes, Cassidy Hughes, Cara Hughes, Madison Hughes and Ashlynne-Jo Hughes. She is also survived by her sister Margene Tjelle; Sister-in-law Kathy Edie; Brother-in-law Chuck Hughes; Step-Mother Janice Lund; Step-Brother Tom Johnston; Step-Sister Judy Johnston; and her beloved rescue dog, Tina.

Family will receive friends at a Visitation on Thursday April 29, 2021 from 5pm until 8pm at the Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home Chapel, 1148 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Hughes will be held on Friday April 30, 2021 at 11am at Bear Lake United Methodist Church, 1010 Bear Lake Road, Apopka, FL 32703

The family is grateful for all the support given by everyone during Kathleen’s long illness. Special Thanks to her dog, Tina and her son, Hunter.
