Michael Ray "Mo" Oliver, 56, of Deland passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016. He graduated from Lyman High School in 1978, and was a very athletic and well known classmate. In high school he played baseball and football and stayed active throughout his life. He started motocross racing in his 20s and then was introduced to golf in his early 30s. A natural athlete he mastered most sports without hesitation.
He was a loyal employee and worked at Wiginton for approximately 20 years before transferring over to Simplex Grinnell for remainder of his career, another 15 plus years. He was a great sale representative being honored as the #1 salesman of the year for Simplex Grinnell in the 2007.
He moved to Deland in July 2000 where he would throw his annual Florida / Florida State "The Swamp" Party. The 15 acre property he and Kim owned in Deland was his dream of having the land and peace to enjoy his life. This allowed him to be in the great outdoors and enjoy large gatherings with his family and friends. He discovered his love for fireworks at this time where he worked with his neighbor at several local and city events including October Bikefest.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kim; two daughters, Brooke (Gregg) and Brittney (Vince); his mother, Betty; three grandchildren, Savanna, Gregg Jr., and Severus; brother, Lenny Oliver; two sisters, Judy Funk and Karan Bryant (Jeff); and his nieces and nephews, Kristy, Jason, Ashley, Tracy, Ryan, Samantha, Michael and Tyler.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 16, 2016 , 1:30pm at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home, 1148 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 4-7pm.
