Miriam Z. "Tootsie" Ison, 91, of Winter Garden, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Byrd Kenneth Ison and the daughter of the late William and Mattie Zeigler.
Tootsie owned motels and restaurants in South Carolina and Ocoee. She loved spending time with her family, fishing, growing plants and attending her great-granddaughter Chloe's softball games. Tootsie loved playing golf. She combined her love of golf and growing plants by supplying growing plants for Augusta National Golf Club to be used during The Masters.
Tootsie is survived by her daughter Deborah Roper (Stanley); Daughter-in-law, Helen Fell; Step-children, Andrea Davis, George Wright (Pat), David Wright (Lou Ann), Jackie Repella (Jim) and B.K Ison (Kathy Jo); Grandchildren, Candy Varady (Eric), Cayce Holbrook (Richard), Cynthia Roper, Stanley C. Roper, Jr., and Matthew Roper; step grandchildren, Piler Davis (Holly), Megan Thompson (Keith), Malon Wright (Cindy), George Wright (Courtney), Cicily Chun (Dan), Katy Barrett, Libby Schlueter (Justin), Bear Ison and Davis Ison; great-grandchildren, Chloe Vrhovac, Jenna Colbert, Kaley Holbrook, Lawson Pleus, Mackenzie Pleus and Caleb Foarde; six great step grandchildren; one great great-grandson, Aiyden and one step great great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, Tootsie was preceded in death by her son, John Fell; sisters, Ida Lee Barnhill and Myrtle Taylor; brothers, Thomas Zeigler and Alvin Zeigler; and her stepdaughter, Roberta Powell.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2017, 11:30am at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home, 1148 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden. The family will receive friends starting at 10am.
