Pete Louis Armstrong, 87, of Ocoee, Florida, passed away on January 24, 2026.
Born on December 27, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia, Pete was a hardworking and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Armstrong, and his two children, Robert Armstrong and Kae Armstrong. He is survived by his three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy.
Pete proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963, where he was stationed in West Virginia. Following his military service, he built a long and dependable career as a forklift driver for Continental Can (later known as Crown, Cork & Seal) in Winter Garden, Florida, retiring in 2012 after many years of dedicated work.
Pete was best known as a cornerstone of the Ocoee community, particularly for the countless years he devoted to coaching Ocoee Little League. Known as a tough but fair coach, he was someone every player wanted to play for. His impact reached far beyond the field, and he is fondly remembered by generations of former players and their families. In honor of his unwavering commitment to youth sports and the community, the City of Ocoee recognized Pete by naming Armstrong Alley, located at the ball field near his home.
Outside of coaching, Pete found joy in fishing, a pastime he truly loved.
Visitation will be held from 5PM to 8PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home, Winter Garden, Florida 34787. A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha, Florida 34734.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ocoee Little League in Pete’s memory. Donation checks can be made out to the City of Ocoee, 1820 A.D. Mims Rd., Ocoee, FL 34761. In the memo line, please indicate donation to the Ocoee Litle League.
