Ruben Moreno, Sr. of Kissimmee, FL, formally of Chicago, IL, passed away on July 3, 2023.
He is survived by his loving wife Maria Rosa of 65 years, would have been 66 years on July 19, 2023; his children Julio (deceased), Rose, Rick, Ruben Jr., Carmen, Patricia and Beatrice, large family on his wife's side, many friends and church family.
He was the only child of Epimenia Allavena and Armand Allavena (Stepfather). He was born in Bogota, Colombia, he told of stories, when he was in the army as a teen, he was a medical aid, met the love of his life at Hotel Nutivara, once a grand Hotel in Medellin, while working as a chef in French cuisine, married, and came to America to pursue his career and to give his family a better life.
Life in America was difficult, where he struggled. But God saved him and changed his life. He became a man after God's own heart. He was a deacon in a Pentecostal church for approximately 11 years. He felt God calling him to Florida where he was a deacon also. He was very happy with his new life and church family. He fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
We will miss his humor, his attentiveness, & his devotion to his faith. We will truly miss you, love you papi, you will be in our hearts forever.
