Susy Pontis Hayes

July 3, 1953 — April 24, 2023

Susy Hayes at the age of 69 passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, April 24, 2023, after a courageous 27-year battle with Inclusion Polymyositis, having departed her earthly body for her heavenly home with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Susy is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jimmie, and her son, Joel, his bride, Laurie, her sister, Donna McGinnis, brother-in-law, David, her niece Amy, and nephew, Michael. She is beloved by all who know her and will be greatly missed.

Susy was born in Dayton, Ohio, to Paul and Lora Jo Pontis later moving to Springfield, Ohio, where she found her lifelong love of sewing that turned into a passion for quilting. She was known for thinking outside the box and especially her homemade "crazy quilts."

Susy married her love, Jimmie, on July 1, 1972. They were blessed with one son, Joel. They moved to the Atlanta, Georgia, area in 1985. Then in 1991, they moved to Orlando, Florida.

Susy's love for her family and friends is surpassed only by her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, and studying the Bible through Precept Bible classes. Later in life, she became, hilariously, a crime show fanatic causing Jimmie to sleep with one eye open.

She has a great laugh, a large heart, a tremendous spirit, and for many, the best friend they've ever known. She is now and forever home with our Lord!

Service will be held May 18th, 2023 at The Grove Bible Church at 7:00 pm.
