Wilbur Merritt

Josh Merritt, 87, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. He was a native Floridian and longtime resident of Ocoee, Florida, where he passed away surrounded by family and friends at Health Central Hospital. Josh was born February 16, 1927, in Ferndale, Florida, to Matthew Merritt and Carrie Leola Merritt Knight. He was the last of 15 children. Josh served 9 years as an Army Medic and 9 years in the Air Force. He served in both WWII and the Koran War and medically retired from the Air Force at the age of 36. Josh was a member of the Ocoee Lions Club for over 37 years and a member of Starke Lake Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marge Freeman Merritt, son, Roger Freeman and his wife Kelly, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by sons Randy Freeman and Charlie Merritt, and his 14 siblings.

All services will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Starke Lake Baptist Church in Ocoee, FL. The family will receive friends from 1:00 2:00 PM with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha, FL.
