Billie Williams

December 21, 1948 — November 17, 2019

Winter Garden

Billie Edward Williams, Jr., of Winter Garden, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 17, 2019.

Billie attended Kenmore high school and transferred to Hower Technical school, from which he graduated in 1966 as a draftsman, a skill he used many times in his Fathers construction business. Billie had many talents and learned things very quickly. He was successful in all he pursued. Billie loved to draw cartoons, he was a talented writer and loved to tell jokes, with his very sarcastic sense of humor that we all loved.

He joined the Army in December of the same year he graduated. He joined the infantry as a demolitions engineer and proudly served with the 101st Airborne division, Screaming Eagles. Never letting a terrible fear of heights stop him from serving his country to the best of all his abilities. Although Billie was smaller than most of his comrades he never backed down from the most difficult of challenges which earned him two Purple Hearts and several other medals in Viet Nam.

Billie met Debbie Lindsay in early 1970 and they married in July of 1974. The had two children, Andrew and Emily.

He spent many years working in the tire industry at a model shop in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Later in life Billie excelled in construction with an extreme attention to detail making him one of the best finish carpenters in the area, eventually building his family home in Florida. He moved his family to Florida in 1988 and joined his parents in their construction business.

Billie loved serving his community in many ways. He couched Pop Warner football for many years. He also loved to play poker and billiards.

Cancer took this extraordinary man from us too soon. The worst part of that is he most likely suffered the cancer as a result of his service in Viet Nam, Agent Orange exposure.

ln addition to his wife Debbie and daughter Emily, Billie leaves behind his godson, Elijah Zeis, Mother Isabel Dennis, Sisters Valerie Timson and Crystal McNulty, as well as his brothers Dale and David Williams and Mike Dennis.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday. December 7, 2019, 11am at Collison, Carey, Hand Funeral Home in Winter Garden. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Billie will be laid to rest with Military Honors in the Florida National Cemetery.
