Boonterm Wibuloutai

December 10, 1940 — July 30, 2020

Kalasin, Thailand

Dr. Boonterm “Boon” Wibuloutai, 79, of Windermere FL, passed away peacefully at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee FL on July 30, 2020, due to complications of COVID-19.  He was born in 1940 and raised in Northeast Thailand.

He academically excelled in high school and was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Faculty of Medicine at Chiang Mai University, where he later met and married his beloved wife, Potjana.  After earning his medical degree and wanting to advance his interest in general surgery, he emigrated to America in the late 1960’s, and settled near Philadelphia PA for several years of internship, residency, and fellowship training. Upon completion, he moved with his family to Beaver PA near Pittsburgh in 1972 to accept a new job in the emergency rooms of The Medical Center of Beaver County.

For 28 straight years, he was a compassionate and dedicated emergency physician and surgeon who treated countless patients of the Tri-State area of Western PA for the same employer now known as Heritage Valley Health System.  He was loved and respected by his many physician, nursing, and allied health professionals who worked by his side healing the sick and injured.

Dr. Boon retired from the hospitals in May of 2000 and moved to Central FL with his wife to enjoy the tropical weather reminiscent of Thailand.  They traveled all over the world with family and friends, and regularly visited Thailand during annual trips to reconnect with their heritage.  They were avid fitness enthusiasts who enjoyed exercising daily at the local gyms to stay healthy and strong.  Most of all, they enjoyed living nearby their only grandchildren, Amanda and Alyssa, whom they dearly loved and supported since the day they were born.

Dr. Boon was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, and 2 other siblings.  He lost his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Mrs. Potjana Wibuloutai, in 2014 due to complications of cancer.  He is survived by his last remaining sibling, Mr. Surachart Wibuloutai, of Khon Kaen Thailand, local sons Dr. Brian Wiboon (with wife Dr. Thidaporn Tanpattana and his grandchildren Amanda and Alyssa) and Mr. Ben Wibuloutai.  He is also survived overseas by numerous nieces and nephews whom he also loved and supported in Thailand.

Funeral services will be provided by Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home in Winter Garden FL.  A private family funeral ceremony will be offered by the venerable monks of Wat Florida Dhammaram Thai Buddhist Temple, Kissimmee FL.  Dr. Boon’s ashes will eventually be returned to his hometown of Kalasin Thailand to be interred with his late family members in eternal peace at the town Buddhist Temple.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Wat Florida Dhammaram, 2421 Old Vineland Road, Kissimmee FL. 34746 (www.facebook.com/watflorida)
