Dr. Milton M.S. Sankar at the age of 89 passed away peacefully in his home on his birthday April 18, 2020 in Winter Garden, Florida. He was the beloved husband of Indrani. Loving and adored father of John, Richard, and Jennifer. Father-in-law of Emran and Sharda. Grandfather of Justin, Jayden, Jordan, Juliana, and Jonathan. Brother of the late Dr. Kennard MD, Beverly, Arnold, and Morris.
Milton was born in Guyana, Berbice No. 79 village where he worked as a trained teacher and subsequently as headmaster of a Lutheran School. He migrated to the United States in 1961 and in 1969 he obtained his bachelor’s degree at Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana. In 1974 he obtained his Master’s and Doctorate Degrees at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. In 1975 Milton worked at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. From 1977-1998 Milton worked as a professor at Indiana University Northwest in Gary, Indiana.
Milton enjoyed his profession as a teacher immensely and after retiring he decided to spend his sunset years in Winter Garden, Florida. That didn’t stop him from continuing to tutor students in the neighborhood and working in the Orange County school system as a substitute teacher. He loved his family dearly and encouraged his family to move close to him. Milton, Indrani, children, and grandchildren are all members of The People of Faith Lutheran Church in Winter Garden, Florida.
