Patricia Weber

August 21, 1939 — January 7, 2021

Mt. Dora

On Thursday, January 7, 2021, Patricia Jeanne Weber passed peacefully at 81 years young, surrounded by love, knowing her sweetheart, "Rob, (Robert Weber) and ( Louise Foley) Weezie were waiting for her on a park bench in Heaven, talking about Delhi" (NY).

Born in Rockland County, NY on August 21, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Ada and Bernie Grubbs; “Sis” to Tom (Judy), and Larry (Elfie); and Mother to six children, John (Joanne), Maureen Kaminsky (Greg), Michael, Kathleen Peterson (Paul), Patrick (Tobi), and Timothy. She loved to boast of her 17 grandkids (“grands”), and six great grandkids. It was her bragging rights!! More than that, she was a friend to all who met her.

After moving our Farley family to what she affectionately called the “Tivoli Mansion”, Mom continued to make new friends while cherishing the old. To make ends meet, Mom proudly did whatever she needed to do to provide for her family, whether it was delivering the Register Star newspaper from her car after school, or working in the cafeteria at Bard College. She loved to remind us that she started as a toll collector on the Tappan Zee bridge—when meanwhile we were busting through the gates on the Kingston Bridge because we didn’t have the quarter toll!!

We were all excited to see Mom graduate as a Nursing Student, one of her proudest moments wearing her cap and gown. She’d worked tirelessly as a nurse’s aide at Ferncliff Nursing Home, where as always, she began many of her lifelong friendships. She worked for decades as a Nurse, starting in geriatric nursing, and then in her 70’s, switching to Psychiatric Nursing in Florida. There were many times her patients from Ferncliff would join us at the Holiday table. We didn’t have much to share, but Mom believed you give to everyone.

The Lord provides, and multiplies the loaves. And damn if she wasn’t right! In our times of need, other people helped provide for us. Her amazing spirit will always be felt, because “life is an adventure!”, which was a great excuse for when we got lost, which was often. Mom would drop everything at a moment’s notice to go explore, and encouraged us all to do the same. This positive attitude was her strength, and she taught us that when life hands you lemons, you make lemon meringue pie!! (Lemonade wasn’t enough.) That being said, when she did make lemon meringue pie or a Pillsbury birthday cake, sometimes it was dropped on the floor, and so what?? Piece it back together with extra frosting!

Knowing how much she loves to play cards, we hope there’s a card deck in Weezie’s hands when Mom gets there! Weezie was our lifelong family friend, and the two of them shared a bond over their games, mostly Scrabble. They nearly missed a wedding hunkered down with their game! This passion for games and cards was shared with any and all, but mostly her “grands” and she took great delight in cheating to win!

Knowing that her days were coming to an end, she enjoyed saying this would be her last adventure and she wouldn’t have to pack a bag!! This amazing spirit that was truly larger than life will be sorely missed by all who knew her. We were blessed to have her in our lives as long as we did. Because she loved going to Martha’s Vineyard so much, after her cremation she has requested her ashes to be flown over the island. At that time, we will likely have a small service for the family.

There will be no funeral services.
