Robert  Rhodes

Robert "Dusty" Rhodes was born on August 27, 1948 in Flagstaff, AZ, to Lt. Col. Edward and Herta (Joppien) Rhodes he was the oldest of five children. He passed away unexpectedly on April 12, 2022, in Ocoee, FL at the age of 73.

Dusty married Phyllis Muller on May 2, 1970 in Wakefield, NE. The couple had 2 children, Melissa (Rhodes) Whiddon and Dalton Rhodes.

He graduated from Fremont, NE High School and went on to earn a degree from Midland Lutheran College (Fremont, NE) where he met his future wife, Phyllis Muller. He started his career at Boys Town, as a teacher and coach, moving into a distinguished career in pharmaceutical sales and staffing sales as a national account manager. After just four years of staffing sales he started his own staffing company in Dallas, TX and again in Orlando, FL until he retired in 1990.

In retirement Dusty and Phyllis travelled extensively throughout the world until settling back in Orlando, FL. Once back in Orlando, Dusty could be found golfing, reading, watching Jeopardy, or doing yardwork.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Phyllis (Muller) Rhodes of Ocoee, FL. Children, Melissa Whiddon of Shawnee, KS and Dalton (Michelle) Rhodes of Lake in the Hills, IL. Four grandchildren Jackson Whiddon of Shawnee, KS, Evelyn, Davis, and Alice Rhodes all of Lake in the Hills, IL. He is also survived by brother Michael (Nancy) Rhodes, sister Patricia (Walter) Kothe, sister Debra (Rich) Ewalt, and brother David (Rychie) Rhodes, and nieces and nephews.

Dusty is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Herta Rhodes.

Graveside service to be held at a later date in Wakefield, NE.
